School Games Mark

School Games Mark - Gold Award

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Mark GOLD Award for the 2024/25 academic year.

This award is part of a government-led award scheme that recognises schools for their commitment to developing competitive sports and promoting physical activity among pupils. The award celebrates Kennet Valley’s dedication to keeping our children active and fostering a competitive sports environment. This builds on the Silver Games Award that we earned in 2019. This is a great achievement for the school.

Our sporting achievements this year

We have participated in a variety of inter-school competitions this year including Football Tournaments (Y5&6 and Y3&4), Multiskills (KS1), Badminton (Y3&4) and Area Sports (KS2).

A special mention goes to our Y3&4 football team who won their league and made it through to the finals.

As well as our successful whole school Sports Day in June, including space hopper, Atalanta, skipping and obstacle races, we also held our inaugural whole school Rounders competition in July.

Congratulations to Yellow House for winning Sports Day this year and to Green House for winning the House Rounders competition.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfill criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to all the adults that have organised these teams, parents who have cheered us on and helped with transport, and in particular, Mrs Bangura who arranges all that is needed behind the scenes to make these things happen.
